Those of us with Raynaud’s know the challenges of looking adorable when you’re wrapped up looking like a polar bear (read about our Nanook of the North contest last year…). So when we found two articles in People magazine with tips on looking cute in cold weather, we wanted to share them with fellow Frosties.
- Fur hats
- Long coats
- Neck scarves
- High socks and boots
- Thumbhole sweaters
OK, anything we don’t know here? Maybe they should have asked a real Frostie for tips instead of star-studded fashionistas!
The article links to a video with more tips I found much more helpful, and loved the opening line: “It’s 16 degrees, your nose is running, you’re wearing a coat that looks like a sleeping bag, and you can’t remember the last time you shaved your legs…” – sound familiar ? (With apologies to the male Frosties, sorry!) Here are the five tips in the video:
- Add tights to everything (makes a great layer, too!)
- Don’t check your coat – make it part of your outfit (bright, stylish, fun prints)
- Over-the-knee boots (with leggings or skinny jeans)
- Leather and fur (our friends!)
- Layer, layer, layer (and how to do it without looking like an Eskimo)
Bonus tip: Punch up your accessories with a fun hat, scarf, gloves and bright statement bag. I personally own a bright purple briefcase for this effect and it adds a cheerful touch to winter’s drab colors.
Please share your tips for looking stylish in cold weather, and let us know if you’d like us to repeat our Nanook of the North Contest this year.
