It’s not easy finding good products for Raynaud’s sufferers this time of year, but fortunately we had some discoveries from fellow Frosties:
FrostGuard® Windshield and Wiper Cover – Earlier this year our blog featured a winter beach towel tip found in the press as a homemade strategy for avoiding frozen fingers when cleaning windshields in the winter. Colleen in Pennsylvania shared with us a product offered by QVC that offers a much neater solution called FrostGuard®. It’s a fabric windshield cover made of PVC-coated polyester that secures with straps to the side mirrors. Snow and frost are captured by the cover – just remove it (careful not to touch the snow with Frostie paws!), shake it off, and store it back in the trunk and you’re ready to go – no standing in the cold scraping snow and ice! Comes in several decorative colors and fashionable prints. Now on sale at QVC for $24.98 (guess that’s the off-season price!). Also available in an XL size for full-size SUV’s and pick-up trucks.
Cabela’s Heated Gloves – Angela in Massachusetts tells us these gloves were a lifesaver for her. She says “I’m a horsewoman in New England and if it wasn’t for these gloves, I would not be able to care for my horses or ride.” While Angela bought the heated gloves from Cabela’s, it turns out the ones she referenced are made by Gerbing, a former Sponsor, and they make excellent heated products. The long-lasting, rechargeable lithium batteries warm the back of the hands, the palms and the entire length of each finger, including the thumbs (often-ignored by manufacturers). The gloves offer three heating levels, and are insulated with Thinsulate® for extra heat insurance. They are expensive at $249.95, but come with a lifetime warranty. Cabela’s site only shows them in a green camoflauge print, but Gerbing’s site has several color and style options now off-season priced at $199.99. This is a great time for us Frosties to shop for hot bargains!
Cashmere Fingerless Mitts – Terry on Facebook shared with us some cashmere wrist warmers from Scotland she says are amazing! We’ve seen many different kinds of fingerless gloves, and love the cushy Polartec® ones from Wristies, but these are the first ones we’ve seen made of warm cashmere. From the photo, it appears the mitts extend to a good portion of the fingers for more coverage than many fingerless gloves offer. They are sold by ScotlandShop, but are available on Amazon for U.S. buyers. While offered in several fun colors, only red is available for free shipping to Prime members. Remember to use AmazonSmile for your purchases, and a portion of each sale will be donated to the Raynaud’s Association!
If you try any of the above products, we’d love your feedback, and please share your new product finds with us. Write to firstname.lastname@example.org, post them in our Discussion Forum or on our Facebook Fan page.
