I just registered on the “old” forum in December. I’ve had Raynaud’s since about 2005 but it’s been getting much worse in the last year or so, I recently had a pretty bad (and extremely painful) ulcer on my fingertip which became infected and I had to go through a couple of rounds of antibiotics to get it under control. My husband had a heart attack and passed away suddenly this past September…I have been under a good deal of stress which I think is contributing to this.
I had my first rheumatologist appointment last week, my PCP and cardiologist have been aware of the problem and I had been taking amlodipene (Norvasc) for the last two years but it has done essentially nothing….rheum put me on Plaquinil and Procardia which so far seem to be helping somewhat. I am pretty certain I have Sjogren’s syndrome as well, as I have almost every symptom. Still waiting to get my lab results back.
Hoping this forum becomes a little more active. I am kind of reticent about putting medical/personal info on FB, I prefer a message board format!
Welcome to the forum, BillieP, and I am so sorry to hear of your recent loss – my heart goes out to you.
Yes, stress is not a friend to us Frosties and somtimes we have no control overcoming it and end up suffering the Raynaud’s attacks. You mentioned here, and in your other post, the possibility of having Sjogren’s and are waiting on lab results. Just so you know, it can take up to 10 years (if ever) for any underlying condition to manifest itself and, labs can be a false negative. Your rheum would be the best doctor to determine what is or might be going on.
I hope you will let us know the results of your labs and I also hope that you will find our new site informative and beneficial.
