I just started taking Nifedipine at 5 mg. The prescription is for 3 times a day but that gives me headaches. If I time it right, before I go outside, I seem to get away with taking one 5 mg. a day and have no side effects. Does anybody else take this low dose? I asked the pharmacist and she didn’t really know if it would be ok and to monitor my blood pressure. Figure there’s a wealth of experience out there.
I take the extened release nifedipine and only need to take one pill a day. Most people start with the 30 mg dose and then switch to the higher dose if needed. My dose is 60 mg since I have severe Raynaud’s. The extended release does take some time for the body to adjust but most people tolerate it well. Headaches are the most common side effect.
I have never taken the single dose nifedipine so can’t address your question.
Thanks, Sarah. I might go that route but am hoping to take as little as possible. Course as the weather gets colder I might be more willing to up the dose.
I didn’t realize how well the Nifedipine worked until I changed to losartan. After 3 days I went back on the Nifedipine.
