Heated Steering Wheel Cover – At What Price?
As we’ve seen a great deal of interest in site search and past surveys for heated steering wheel covers, we’ve been in touch with a manufacturer who is working on product development for us Frosties.
Our manufacturing contact has researched what’s available in the market and what he’s mostly found appear to be lower-priced, not very effective options. He sees an opportunity for a superior product that is a high-quality, heated wrap that would not only feel comfortable to the touch when in the off mode, but when on, would be nice and toasty. The product would be powered by a hidden battery that can be plugged in when the car is parked, charged and ready to go when the driver is.
The key question we have is how much would you pay for such a product? Can you please give us some feedback? We’d really appreciate your input.
Thanks!

If the product was well reviewed I’d glady shell out up to $50 for it. When the temperatures are low it takes most vehicles a while for the heat to flow- longer than I can usually afford to wait, so I’d love a product that would heat my hands because my fingers are usually numb within a minute of sitting in a cold car.

I’d spend up to $30 on it– I’m sure it could be reduced down to the bare essentials needed to warm a steering wheel to keep the price down.

I live in Australia, and I would definitely order one. I would pay whatever it cost! It wouldn’t think twice about trying it if it was under $100. Driving is probably one of the commonest times I’ll get a Raynaud’s attack, especially when the car heater doesn’t work!

We’ve been looking for something like this for a while for my wife, and just can’t find it, especially one that doesn’t add too much bulk to the steering wheel. My previous car (Audi A6) did have this, and if we can’t find a steering wheel cover, then it becomes a requirement for the next car we buy. Would easily spend 100$ on it, but am sure it can be manufactured for much less.

that’s a great idea and would be really helpful. i’d spend at the most $100.

I live in Ireland and there are numerous cold mornings, even in summer, when I’d love to have an effective heated cover on the steering wheel. I’d pay up to 200euro if I knew it was a quality, durable and reliable product.

I live in northern Illinois USA and need something I can use on my snowplow tractor that will keep heating for at least 2 hours. Don’t know if a battery pack would cut it. I would rather have something that plugs in to power

Kevin – We’re still waiting for prototypes from a couple of manufacturers and appreciate the input. Stay warm!

Hi, I suffer from raynauds and would like to learn more about a heated steering wheel cover. Is there something that will work? When I touch a freezing steering wheel, I immediately have an attack. Thanks for any information. Carla Clason

Carla – We saw one prototype that needed modifications before being ready for prime time. We’re awaiting new versions from two manufacturers and will share news on product availability once they are through the development stages, so stay tuned to our web site for more news!

I’d spend more than $20 on ma wheels– but i am not able to recognize the problem of it might be less down to the bare essentials needed to warm a steering wheel to keep the price down…..thanks for sharing

I would spend £50.00 on it!! In our weather in GB it is essential not a luxury for me.

I am a cad designer, have lots of ideas on this.
Found a cheap version on amazon for $19.95. Not very good reviews. I would pay up to $100 for a good quality battery operated unit. I’d like to see something using a rechargeable battery (like an RC car battery or such) 12-18v something like 3000-5000mah. lithium ion, or Lipo preferred. The battery could be attached using velcro to any spoke on the steering wheel. The heating cover could be attached in the same way. This would sell like hot cakes to owners of small garden and utility tractors. Probably would need varying sizes. Personally it would only need it to last 45min. to 1 hour. Let me know if you come up with something.

Hello i live in minnesota and was wondering if and when these are going to become available to the public. This is a wonderful idea it would be great however if it could run without batteries like use some kind of capacitor. It would be much more convienent to the average driver and get rid of the hassel of the cords. Anyways i dont know if that would even be possible but i know there are gel packs that can heat like that and maybe use the car battery or maybe the vibrations from the car itself as a source of power i dont know but i do know i would pay easily 150 for such an item. let me know what you guys think

vibrations route is going to be way to expensive and not possible i believe. The best way would be to incorporate a battery instead. This option will be much less expensive and sounds way more possible.

well ive been working on this for about 2 years now and ive never thought to use anything like vibrations to power such a device. i built a couple prototypes using a capacitor and a couple using a standard battery adapter to supply the power, both relativly successful and again never thought about using vibrations or anything like that. hmmmmmmm wonder if that is possible i might need to get in contact with my developer and see what i can do. I might be able to use microchips or something to initate a circuit and supply the power. i dont know. Ill keep this site posted if and when i find out anything else about this idea. Ill see what my developer and i can come up with. Thanks lance ill see what we can do to help you out. The only problem might be the cost i dont know how much it would cost to develop ill talk to my developer hes a pretty conventional guy it might cost too much. Ill keep you posted lance

I was searching for a steering wheel cover for my school bus and came apon your site. I would pay up to $60 for a heated cover that works! The suggestions about vibration are interesting. I have a flashlite that you shake to make it work For a heat element as long as you are able to turn it on and off the vibrations from a diesel engine would keep it powered whenever you needed it. Cars get heat much faster then diesel busses or trucks and we spend much more time holding that wheel! Keep up the research and keep my email address so as soon as you have them on the market I can buy one!!!

I have been searching for something like this for a very long time. Most reviews I have seen for the few products available are not good. I live in Michigan. As soon as I touch my steering wheel (even with gloves on) in the winter it starts my Raynauds in motion and I can’t stop it. I would spend $100 no problem for a quality effective product. Thank you!
