HandCandy Mittens
HandCandy Mittens was created in 2006 by Charlotte Reid after attending a hockey game and finding her store-bought gloves just weren’t cutting it. Inspired by her mother-in-law’s cool pair of mittens made from portions of two layers of sweaters hand-stitched together, HandCandy Mittens was born!
Charlotte first contacted us after several Raynaud’s sufferers told her how much they enjoyed her mittens. Born from recycled sweaters and lined with cushy new polar fleece, these are some of the warmest mittens you’ll ever love to wear! They are good for the environment, and great for Raynaud’s sufferers.
Buy them for their warmth, but love them for their colorful and fun designs. Each pair can be custom made to your color and pattern preferences. Just email Charlotte with your color choices and themes, and she will create mittens that you will be sure to love. I asked for multi-colors and snowflakes and got back the perfect pair (she even predicted my favorite color!). The outer layers are sturdy wool taken from what must have been well-made sweaters. The new polar fleece lining provides cushy, baby soft insulation, and they are beautifully finished off with a decorative hand-stitched pattern around the bottom. HandCandy mittens come in three sizes: Large (for most adults and teens), Medium (for children age 6-11), and Small (for children age 2-5). They offer a wide selection of patterns and color choices.
