When my hands aren't cold they're beet red & look like they've been scalded.Too much blood flow? It's very embarassing....... Just wondering if anybody else has this problem & how they deal w/ it. Thanks, Lisa.

Lisa,

My hands get kinda reddish too. Like in slide 65 of this powerpoint presentation:

I bet your fingerprints, like mine, are barely visible. Slide 62 explains why.

Best regards,
Jeff

I've had Raynauds for over 10 years now. Just within the last few years I've noticed the tops of my hands will turn red sometimes. Really red. Sometimes patchy blotches. They look inflamed to me. Sometimes the skin between the fingernail and first joint and also the middle knuckles will remain yellow, so I have this bizarre stripped appearance. Weird, but not painful. Never last longs, so I don't worry about it.

Though I was diagnosed several years ago, this year is the first that I've really noticed that. My hands (when not cold) are sometimes bright red. There is a clear line at my wrist where the redness ends--it looks like I'm wearing red gloves. Not sure what it means, but I was thinking it was probably Raynaud's related. I know it happens in/after I'm in the shower and sometimes inside buildings, so I figure maybe it's all of the blood coming back?!

There is a condition called erythromelalgia that causes the hands and feet to turn red and become warm. It's not uncommon for people who are diagnosed as having Raynaud's to also have, or experience, this condition.

Hi, I'm new here and have been searching the internet for answers. I too have the redness in my hands. The fingers are mainly red and the redness stops at the knuckles. Mine seems to be worse in my right hand. Any time I am hot this happens. Unlike the typical Raynaud's, I never turn white or blue...just red. This has been going on for about three years and seems to have gotten worse. My doctor has referred me to a Specialist but I was just wondering if anyone has any tricks to help ease this as its very uncomfortable. Does anyone experience pain in their inner forearm up to the elbow when this happens?

This sounds exactly what I have. I've got a red band from the knuckles to the first digit on the back of each hand. It's pretty constant too, minor when I first get up and then goes through phases on redness during the day. I first noticed it around 3 weeks ago and am still waiting the results from some blood tests (Doctor's out of town). Has anyone ever seen this go away by itself?

I have the same problem as well. When I am warm, my hands swell and become red from the knuckles up. My hands are hot to the touch. If it happens fast from being in hot water they just explode with blood rushing in and throb. I can see the veins swell and my fingers even turn a purplish color at the tips from the rush of blood. Eventually this passes and my hands are just red and slightly swollen.
