For the past 1.5 months I have developed painful ulcers due to Raynaud's attacks. My one finger is literally black and blue.
Yesterday at the Dr.'s I learned that I have developed Gangrene on this finger.
Uh-oh, not good.
If it doesn't heal, amputation is the only option.

This is my "should-of, could-of, would-of":

I should-of gone to the Dr. right away.
I could-of been on proper medication sooner
I would-of probably prohibited my finger from turning worse.

I started a new job and I didn't want to request time off so soon to go to the Dr. I was hoping that my ulcers would be the usual ulcers I get and I would deal with it on my own and it would be gone in 3 months.

WRONG! Don't make my mistake. Go to your Dr. immediately. Get on all of those drugs that open your vessels up and give yucky side effects. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. But you never know unless you try.

Now, I have to call in sick from work for at least 3 days, maybe more.

I gambled with Raynauds and hoped that it wouldn't turn serious. But it did. Please don't make the same mistake I did. I knew better.

I'm late on responding to your posting. Gees, I'm so sorry you have gangrene in your finger and now have to get it amputated. That's so sad. I'm sorry to hear that. I think I read where someone else in the group has had an amputation due to the Raynauds. That's just terrible that the meds or warmers can't control it more. Have you checked into Botox injections? I think I read too where someone posted about Viagra being used for Raynauds. Good luck and I hope you're healing well if you've already had surgery. Here's some get well hugs XXX

Take care,
Kathy

I continually went to see my rheumatologist due to severe burning and pain in my fingertips in the beginning and the only thing she would prescribe was nitroglycerin ointment and pain meds which didn't help at all. I am scheduled for amputation in four weeks due to a gangrene infection on three fingertips. Anyone who senses that a doctor doesn't really care about your condition....PLEASE FIND A NEW DOCTOR....I wish I would have.
