I will describe something that I have noticed over the years and maybe others have noticed similar?
The state of my body before going out into the cold seems to determine my sensitivity to an attack. If my blood is pumping for some reason, I can tolerate a bit of cold without an attack. If I have been sedentary for a while, any little cold sets me off. Example: I drove to work at my previous job. I would get up in the morning, make breakfast, have a shower, and generally move about a lot as I prepared to go to work. I would step out into really cold morning winter weather (maybe -15C) and drive to work for 10 minutes. No problem. After a day of sitting at a desk, I would put on the same winter clothes and go back outside (now maybe -5C) and do the reverse drive. I would almost always get an attack. This has actually just given me an idea. Next time I'm gonna step outside into the winter weather, first I'm gonna try doing some pushups or stairclimbing or something like that to see if I can avoid an attack. |

That's exactly what it's like for me. Stairclimbing helped me tremendously!

I notice the same thing. If I am cool, and need to go out, I need to stop and warm up my feet with the hair dryer and get blood pumping before I go out. I just discovered the multiple uses of the heating pad as well. What took me so long! If I don't, well, you know!

Oh my God. I thought I was the only human that had to do this. I have to use a hari dryer on my feet all the time! I get laughed at, in the pool locker room after I swim. I have to have totally dry and warm feet, especially before I put socks on.

"I have to have totally dry and warm feet, especially before I put socks on."
Exactly! I'll try doing the stair thing, but I'm thinking a stationary bike would work too, if you're at home (or the gym I suppose). |
