Having the air conditioner on in the summertime makes my feet and hands freezing, especially feet. Haha, it seems worse than the winter at points. But if it's not on it's too hot, so it's a win lose situation I guess. Just wondering if any of you are experiencing this too? bye guys

Hello, yumgrapefruit, and welcome to the forum.
I think many, perhaps most, people on this forum would agree with you that air conditioning is very challenging to anyone with Raynaud's. It's especially annoying when you're dressed for a hot summer day and walk into a room that's air conditioned and get that blast of cold air. I hope you will find this site to be helpful. ------------------------- Judith Secondary Raynaud's with underlying systemic sclerosis |

YES! Air conditioning is brutal. It's been especially difficult this year due to excessive heat in our region, and the resultant overuse of a/c. And I agree, it is worse than winter in some ways. At least during the winter, I'm generally comfortable indoors.

I can't go out for a meal and sit underneath air conditioning, I feel it spoils the meal for my family when we can't get another table or it's too hot for them. But they're always considerate and understanding towards me

Hi, I too have the same problem. I live in Northern VA and this summer has been really brutal this year and like you said Chillyhoops, a/c is overused. Even though the winter is usually my enemy, I am beginning to think I am probably better of then because at least the buildings are not freezing and I can control my core temperature by layering clothing. In the summer, my only solution is to carry sweaters, socks and mittens everywhere!

When I was first diagnosed I didn't have as many problems with air conditioned environments... the only place I really had trouble in the summer was in the cold sections of grocery stores. Now I've reached a point that if I'm dressed for warm weather, I better have layers with me somewhere, somehow, because I'm going to have problems once I'm not outside.
For me the real problem times are the spring and fall months. I used to love (and still love) both seasons, but it's much much easier for me to control my internal temps when I know for sure if the heat or the A/C is going to be completely on or completely off. This time of year, I never know what I'm going to be walking into. |
