My doctor told me that I could take the Procardia XL he prescribed only as needed when I knew I would be subject to cold stressors. My Raynauds is apparently mild enough that it doesn't cause me any problems except for those instances.
From what I see almost everyone takes these CCBs as a maintenance medication. I would be interested to learn if anyone else takes the drug intermittently as needed. ------------------------- Raynauds and a love for ice-fishing, what a rotten combination.......... |

I would be interested also. I am laid off from work right now and the only time I really have episodes is at work. My shop is only about 55 degrees in the heated part and most parts don't have heat. If thats the case I could take my meds only in the winter when I'm working, that would be great.

I am new to the forum. I also take Procardia XL on a PRN schedule. I get it through PPARX so I do not pay for it. They send me enough to take it daily. I have done both. I find that if I take it every day my blood pressure gets really low. So I have adapted to taking it when the ten dips below 50 during the day. During warmer weather I take it if I begin to feel cold in any single digit. I also do not take it if I am going to be going anywhere. It sometimes makes me dizzy. All that being said , It really does help me.
