I have used ActivHeat gloves and liners and jackets and all are pretty good. I have also used ThermoGloves and are okay as well and sometimes cheap when on sale (around $85). The best gloves I found were the VaprThrm mitts. They only work when active but work so much better than the battery powered gloves when going for long cold winter hikes. For sitting around, I usually use the ThermoGloves since the batteries are in the gloves rather than connected through wiring to your body like the ActivHeat gloves. The ActivHeat liners work well under almost any shell and it is nices that the the ActivHeat gloves, jacket and liners can be powered through the car adapter. Just my experiences so far with battery and non-battery gloves…
