I really hope this tidbit of information helps someone.
About three weeks ago, it was a Saturday, about an hour after working out, sitting in a chair, when both of my index fingers went completely numb, then turned white, then bluish. I got a little concerned but thought I’d maybe pinched a nerve in my back or something. Well, eventually the cold numbness went away (I had touched nor been around anything cold all day) and my finger turned bright red, then went back to normal.
Lasted about 5-9 minutes or so.
I didn’t think anything of it.
The next day, Sunday, I worked out again. And again, about an hour later, both my index fingers went numb again. Needless to say I was now full blown freaking out. So I started doing my research on the internet and of course came across Raynaud’s which fit my symptoms to a T.
Then I started wondering what I had changed in my working out/eating regime that had triggered it. It had to be something. I am a hot natured person and am always drinking ice cold drinks, like the A/C turned down low, etc. But this didn’t seem to be triggered by hot or cold. (I did put my fingers over the gas burner on my stove! Talk about stinging pain!!)
The only thing I had changed was that I had started taking a Branch Chain Amino Acid (Purple Wraath). Since it was the only thing I had changed about my working out, I stopped taking it (it’s a powder drink). I haven’t had a single reoccurrence since.
Not sure if this helps anyone with research or perhaps looking at their own situation, or even if its sound science, but maybe someone can put two dots together and make a line.
BTW, I am 42, white, male. 6’3″ 240 lbs.
